Make It Happen Monday

Wow. Okay. First official post. No pressure.

Well as you may already know, we like alliteration. It actually became a problem in the early stages of development because we couldn’t stop suggesting dumb names for posts (e.g. Weary Wednesdays…thanks, Ashley). We can’t promise that our posts will be funny, cool or even interesting. But rest assured. You will enjoy some serious Alliteration.

With that being said, here is Make it Happen Monday:

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away… (solid start huh?)

There were three young ladies who dreamed of being Taylor Swift’s best friend. A decision was made to attend one of her concerts in hopes of meeting the country queen. That unfortunately did not come to pass (yet), but something wonderful and entertaining came out of the failed mission. The trio realized their friendship was now strong enough for each of them to be their ridiculous selves without any judgment from the others (okay, some judgment still happens. Have you met us?). To them, that was perfect.

And that was where this blog got its start, more or less. Because the foundation of everything we’ve done for it has been our friendship. Without it, this does not exist. It is literally an extension of that and that’s why we like it and have had the #BEST time creating it. We hope you enjoy it and join in the friendship!

So now that the backstory is a bit more clear, let’s move on. It is Make it Happen Monday after all.

I’m gonna give you some pointers on how to Make it Happen. We will use this blog as an example:

Inspiration.
This is what you start with and you can get it at anytime from anything or from anyone. (We were inspired by two of our favorite blogs: elysemurphy.com & all-streets.blogspot.com. Check them out! <3)

Audacity.
This is what you must have in order to move past just being inspired. Audacity is the willingness to take bold risks. If you don’t even have that willingness to try, it’s not gonna happen. (We channeled all of ours together to get to this point. Having someone in your corner helps immensely…but don’t count on Baby to be there…cause nobody puts Baby in a corner. Okay. That was too much. But hey, I went for it. Audacious, wasn’t it? )

Resolution.
This is where you put that audacity to good use. You make the decision to look past your doubts (“do we even write well enough for this?”), your fears (“what if no one likes it, and we just look dumb?!?”) and past failures (“I’ve tried this blog thing before, and ended up accidentally deleting it.”<true story) Honestly, once you’ve reached this point of resolution, where you want to make it happen more than you’re afraid of failing or disaster, than you really only have one thing standing in your way. Laziness.

Do Work.
You can be inspired, have the audacity, and make the resolution to do it, but if you are not willing to put in the hours, GO HOME.

“Despite their desires, the lazy will come to ruin, for their hands refuse to work.”
–Proverbs 21:25 (NLT)

(We have put a lot of time and effort into this thing, and hopefully that is evident. Because if WE don’t care enough about this to work hard on it, then why should anyone else care to read it? It’s hard to respect a half-hearted attempt.)

Now you know how to Make it Happen. It is definitely easier said than done—I have to remind myself of those pointers daily—but your dreams are worth it. And in most cases, the only thing stopping you is you. So dream on, and just do it.

Whew… I did it. First post done. Thank you all for bearing with me.

You know, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship … (solid ending, right?)
